CHROMEBOOK: Connecting to Remote Access Labs with a Chromebook

  • If you do not have a Chrome RDP application on your computer, please download it from the Chrome Web Store by navigating to your launcher (1) and clicking Web Store.

How to get to web store on a chromebook

  • In the search box in the top left of the Web Store window, type in "Chrome RDP" (3) and press the Enter/Return key. You should see a window similar to the following: Scroll down to the Chrome RDP app (4).

  • This is a free app. Click on the button labeled "Add to Chrome" next to Chrome RDP. Once this is downloaded and complete, it will appear in your launcher. Continue with the directions below.

Connecting to Remote Access Labs

1. Open a browser and navigate to: https://remoteaccess.labstats.com/bemidji-state-university.html

2. You will see a window that looks like the one below:

3. You should see the station numbers listed with the naming scheme oc S248WXX where XX is the station number. Select a station from the ones that are listed and remember the number. You will need this information later.

4. Click on your launcher (6) to open Chrome RDP (7).

5. The window that opens will look similar to this. Put the station name followed by Bemidji.bemidjistate.edu
into the box labeled “Enter the computer name or address to connect to:” Click the Connect button.

6. Enter your credentials in the fashion of Domain: Bemidji.bemidjistate.edu, Username: your starID and
Password: your starID password. Then click OK.

7. You will see a dialog open stating that the certificate for “S248WXX.bemidji.bemidjistate.edu” (where XX is
the station number) could not be verified. When asked “Do you want to connect anyway?”, click Continue.

8. You will see a screen similar to the one you would be presented when you log into one of the lab computers.
You should now be logged into the computer and may use any of the applications as if you were in the lab.

9. When you have completed your work, click on the Start/Windows menu and log off just as you would if you
were in the lab.
