Memorial 260: smart room instruction

Memorial 260 is an active learning classroom that seats 48 people and is equipped with two projectors, eight student monitors, sound system, document camera, Blu-ray DVD player, lecture capture system, and a touchscreen control system.

Using the room PC
  1. Turn on the touch screen panel by pressing it anywhere.
  2. Select the Room PC button to show the PC in the instructor’s lectern, then press the buttons for the screens to send the image to. Press the Send to ALL button to send the image to both projectors and all the TV screens. Connect the HDMI cable in the cable cubby in the lectern to the correct port on the laptop. There is a ring of adapters for various laptop and tablets connected to the HDMI cable.
  3. The button for each display will show the icon for the source selected to be shown. Up to three separate sources can be shown on different display devices.
  4. Power up the room PC. If the display is not shown, configure the PC to send output to a second display.
  5. Press the Room Speakers button to send audio from the room PC to the speakers. The Send to ALL button does this automatically. Adjust the volume on the touch screen.
Using the Blu-ray DVD player
  1. Turn on the touch screen panel by pressing it anywhere.
  2. Press the BluRay button to play a DVD, then press the buttons for the screens to send the image to. Press the Send to ALL button to send the image to both projectors and all the TV screens.
  3. The button for each display will show the icon for the source selected to be shown. Up to three separate sources can be shown on different display devices.
  4. Press the Room Speakers button to send audio from the Blu-ray player to the speakers. The Send to ALL button does this automatically. Adjust the volume on the touch screen.
  5. To access the Blu-ray player controls, press the small circle labeled CNTRL in the BluRay source button.
Using the document camera or a laptop
  1. Turn on the touch screen panel by pressing it anywhere.
  2. Press the Instructor Source button on the touch panel, then press the buttons for the screens to send the image to. Press the Send to ALL button to send the image to both projectors and all the TV screens. Small green text on the button will show whether the laptop or doc cam will be shown. If you need to change which will be shown, press the small circle labeled CNTRL in the Instructor Source button and choose HDMI for a laptop or Doc Cam for the document camera.
  3. Turn on the document camera or connect your laptop to the HDMI cable and turn it on.
  4. Press the Room Speakers button to send audio from the laptop to the speakers. The Send to ALL button does this automatically. Adjust the volume on the touch screen.
Using the microphone
  1. Press the power button on the side of the microphone to turn it on.
  2. Clip the microphone to your lapel or collar, pointing towards your mouth.
  3. Adjust the volume on the touch panel.
  4. Press the power button to mute the microphone. A red light will show that the microphone is muted.
  5. Press and hold the power button to turn the microphone off.
Turn off system
  1. Press the shut down button on the touch screen panel.
  2. Confirm or cancel the shutdown. The touch screen panel will go into sleep mode a few minutes after the system is shutdown.
