Decker 15: smart room instructions

Decker 15 is a smart classroom and ITV room that seats 30 people and is equipped with a projector, sound system, computer, document camera, DVD/VCR player, wireless microphones, touch-screen control panel, and equipment necessary for ITV connections.

Turning on the system
  1. Press firmly on the touch screen to wake it up. Push the Push Here to Start button.
Connecting a laptop
  1. Press Laptop on the touch screen to use the laptop connection.
  2. The image will be automatically shown on the TV monitors. To project the image as well, select the Projector Powered On button on the touch pad. The projector will take about 30 seconds to warm up.
  3. Connect the VGA cable that extends from the top of the media cabinet to the monitor port on the laptop. An adapter may be necessary if the laptop does not have a VGA monitor port. All MacBook models will require an adapter.
  4. Power up the laptop. If the laptop display is not shown, configure the laptop to send output to a second display.
  5. Volume is controlled by pressing the volume control on the touch screen.
Using the DVD/VCR player
  1. Press the DVD button the projector remote to play a DVD, or VCR button to display a VHS tape.
  2. Turn on the DVD/VCR player inside the media cabinet.
  3. Insert the DVD or VHS tape you wish to play, and press Play on the touch screen control panel. All the DVD/VCR functions are available on the control panel.
Using the document camera
  1. Press the Doc Cam button on touch screen control panel.
  2. Turn on the document camera.
  3. Place the document or item to be shown on the bed of the document camera.
Turn off system
  1. Press System Shutdown button on the touch screen control panel, and confirm System Shutdown on the next screen that comes up.
  2. Make sure the document camera and DVD/VHS player are turned off.
  3. Lock cabinet doors.
