Question

How do I use a document camera?

Answer

Document cameras can be used to display three-dimensional objects, book pages and transparencies.

Using a Document Camera
  1. Press the Doc Cam button on the touch screen control panel to turn on the projector and set it to display the document camera. In a room without a touch screen, use the remote to turn on the projector and press the Doc Cam button on the manual switch box in side the cabinet.
  2. Press the power button on the document camera to turn it on.
  3. Place the object you wish to display directly below the document camera lens.
Tips
  • Depending on the type of object you wish to display, use the LAMP button to turn the lights on or off, and the Brightness buttons to adjust the brightness of the image. Reflective objects may show up better with the lamp off and the brightness turned up.
  • If the image is blurry, use the AF or Auto-Focus button to adjust the focus. On some document cameras this button is on the side of the camera lens.
  • If the color or brightness is imbalanced, place a piece of white paper under the camera lens and press the Auto White Correct (AWC) or Auto White Balance (AWB) button.
  • Use the ZOOM button to increase or decrease the image size.
  • Document cameras can be connected to a computer with a USB cable to save images or video to the computer. Some models can also save images or video to SD cards or USB flash drives. Please contact Classroom Technology Services if you would like assistance doing this.
