Question
How do I set my default print settings to grayscale in Adobe Reader on a Mac?
Answer
How to set up grayscale printing options on your Macintosh computer using Adobe Reader:
Adobe Reader:
1. In your .PDF document, go to File >> Print.
2. Near the bottom-left corner, select Printer…
3. A message will pop up as shown below. Select Yes to continue.
4. Another window will appear that is more similar to other print menus. As with other applications, select Presets: Default Settings to select any presets you have already created, and click Show Details in the green box to expand the print options.
5. You can adjust your presets or create a new one by clicking the Layout button in the middle of the window, then select Color/Quality from the drop-down menu.
6. More options will appear. Unless your department uses different settings specifically, use these settings listed below:
- Resolution Enhancement: Off
- If print jobs (particularly text) come out blurry, try using Light or even Medium.
- Printer Resolution: 600 dpi
- Levels of Gray: Enhanced
- EconoMode: Save Toner
7. You can now save these settings as a preset. Click on the Color / Quality button and reselect Copies & Pages.
8. Now click on the drop-down menu next to Presets and select Save Current Settings as Preset…
9. Create a name for the preset settings; such as, “Standard_Settings.”
10. Click on the All Printers button to make this preset available to all printers connected to your computer. Hit OK.
11. You should see the name of your preset settings listed under the Presets drop-down menu.
