Question

How do I use the wireless display option in the HMU conference rooms?

Answer

The conference rooms in Hobson Memorial Union are equipped with Crestron AirMedia wireless display devices. These allow you to display images from your Mac or PC laptop to the projector without connecting an HDMI or VGA cable.

Video may have a slight lag, so if you are showing a video that is longer than 10 minutes or so we recommend using a wired connection. The app for mobile devices is more restricted, and does not mirror the screen. You can display photos, documents or the web browser with the app, but videos will not play.

To use the wireless display system:
  1. Select AirMedia on the touch screen in rooms equipped with a touch screen control panel (Beaux Arts, Crying Wolf, Ozawindib or North Conference Room). Select input HDMI2 from the remote in rooms with flat screen TVs and no touch screen (South Conference Room and Conference Room 2).
  2. Connect to the URL in the upper left hand corner of the screen, then download the client for your operating system to connect to the wireless display. If you are using a mobile device such as an iPad/iPhone or an Android tablet or phone, connect to the app store for your device and download the AirMedia app.
  3. Click on the app to run it when the download is finished. When prompted, enter the 4-digit numeric code displayed in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Note: a new code will be generated for each session. Multiple people can connect to a session using the same code.

4. If your display does not show up immediately, press the arrow button to send your desktop to the projector. If someone else is already displaying their laptop screen, this will disconnect their display and replace it with yours. They can show their display again by clicking on the arrow button on the AirMedia client on their laptop.
