Record a Video

Record a video using the tool of your choice (i.e. phone, Zoom, Teams, computer, camera).

Log in to Kaltura MediaSpace

Go to the Kaltura MediaSpace Website and enter your Microsoft credentials.

Upload a Video File to Media Space

NOTE: If you used Zoom to record your video and chose Record to the cloud, you do not need to do this step. Your Zoom recording will automatically go into your MediaSpace account.

  1. In MediaSpace, in the upper right corner of the page, select Add New or select the plus (+) button, and select Media Upload
  2. Select Choose a file to upload to search your computer or device for your media file
  3. Select the file; then select Open to begin uploading the file
  4. As the file uploads you may begin adding details to the file such as a Name. To make your video easier to find, give it a descriptive name such as the class number and title of assignment.
  5. When finished adding details, select Save.  NOTE: You may see a message such as, 'This media is still being converted. An e-mail notification will be sent.' This is normal. Media will continue to process even if you navigate away.

Publish the Video as "Unlisted"

  1. In MediaSpace, select your name or icon in the upper right of the page and select My Media
  2. Select the video you just uploaded
  3. Below the video, select the Actions button and select Publish
  4. Select Unlisted
  5. Save

Submit your video in an Assignment Folder in D2L

  1. Enter your course in D2L
  2. Select Assignments on the Navbar
  3. Select the appropriate Assignment folder
  4. Submit your video link (2 options)
    1. Text Submission: If you have a text box option, select Insert Stuff on the toolbar, select Kaltura Media, locate your video, and select the Embed button next to the video.
    2. File Submission: If you have a text box option, but you also have an Add a file button, your submission may require you to upload a document. We suggest that you embed your video as described above and paste a link to your video into a Word document, save the document, and upload it to the Assignment folder using the Add a File button. To get a link to your video, go back to MediaSpace, select your video, select the Share button below the video, copy the link, and paste the link into a document.
  5. After you embed your video and/or add your file, select Submit. You will receive an email confirmation.
