Use the Request Help Widget to Create a Development Shell

Summary

Instructors can use the Request Help widget to create up to 10 development shells.

Body

There is a feature available in D2L for instructors to create their own Development (DEV) shells.

  • Each instructor can create up to ten development shells
  • You will be enrolled in the development shell with the instructor role
  • If you need more than ten development shells or need a role other than instructor, contact your D2L administrator

How to Request a DEV Shell

  1. Log in to D2L
  2. Scroll down to the lower right side of the page to find the Request Help widget
  3. Select the menu button in the upper left of the widget
  4. Select Dev Course Request
  5. Select the plus sign in the upper right to create a new request
  6. Enter the course name and select Submit. (The course name will be prefixed with “DEV:” automatically.)
  7. The status will be updated to Submitted. You will receive an email when your request has been completed in the system. This only takes a few minutes.
  8. After your request has been completed, you will find your new development shell in the My Courses widget.
    1. You may need to filter your widget to the “Development” heading.
    2. You may need to refresh your page before your shell appears.
