Zoom Sharing with PowerPoint Presenter View

Summary

This allows a presenter to see their notes on the presentation laptop while those in the room and on Zoom see only the slides.

Body

Option 1: No cables, useful in Poly Zoom rooms. Presenter must join meeting.

  • Presenter joins the Zoom meeting.
  • Open PowerPoint presentation and ensure “Use Presenter View” is unchecked:

  • In Zoom, click Share, and then choose the open PPTX file.
  • While the file is being shared, start the presentation (F5 or click the icon):

  • Right click the presentation and click Show Presenter View. Presenter view should appear on the laptop screen while only the slides should be visible to in-room and Zoom participants.
  • Click somewhere in the blank space below the slide in the Presenter View to give the slideshow control back to the presenter.

Option 2: HDMI cable in room, sharing in Zoom without joining meeting.

  • Start the Zoom meeting in the room with the iPad touch controller.
  • Plug the HDMI cable into the laptop and choose the correct input on the Crestron touch panel to mirror the laptop's screen.
  • Open Zoom Workplace and open the PPTX on the presenter’s laptop.
  • Ensure “Use Presenter View” is checked:

  • Start the presentation.
  • In the Presenter view on the laptop, click Show Taskbar at the top left.
  • Click the Zoom Workplace window from the Windows taskbar.
  • Click Share, then choose to share Screen 2.
  • Click somewhere in the blank space below the slide in the Presenter View to give the slideshow control back to the presenter.
