How to set up grayscale printing options on your Macintosh computer using Mozilla Firefox:

1.  In your web browser, select File >> Print.

2.  Click on Show Details to expand your printing options.

3.  You can change any of these print settings if you need to. When ready, click on the Default Settings button near “Presets.”

4.  If you have already created a preset, you will find it within that drop-down window.  Otherwise, you have the option to create a preset. To do so, click on the Firefox drop-down menu (just under “Show Presets”) and select Color/Quality.

5.  More options will appear. Unless your department uses different settings specifically, use these settings listed below:

  • Resolution Enhancement: Off
    • If print jobs (particularly text) come out blurry, try using Light or even Medium.
  • Printer Resolution: 600 dpi
  • Levels of Gray: Enhanced
  • EconoMode: Save Toner

6.  You can now save these settings as a presetClick on the Color / Quality button and reselect Copies & Pages.

7.  Now click on the drop-down menu next to Presets and select Save Current Settings as Preset

8.  Create a name for the preset settings; such as, “Standard_Settings.”

9.  Click on the All Printers button to make this preset available to all printers connected to your computer.  Hit OK.

10.  You should see the name of your preset settings listed under the Presets drop-down menu.
