Bensen 317: Smart Room Instructions

Bensen 317 is a smart classroom that seats 42 students and is equipped with a projector, sound system, and BluRay player.

Connecting a Laptop

  1. Wake up the touch screen panel by tapping it anywhere. Tap the green start button on the touch panel.
  2. Tap the Projector Control button on the left side, then tap the Laptop HDMI input button. The projector will turn on automatically. If not, tap the Projector On button.
  3. Ensure your laptop is on and ready. Connect the HDMI cable to the correct port on the laptop. A USB-C adaptor is provided if needed.
  4. If the laptop display is not shown within 10 seconds, configure the laptop to send output to a second display.
    1. On Windows, hold the Windows key and press the "P" key to bring up your extended monitor options. Choose "Duplicate" or "Extend" depending on your needs.
    2. On MacOS, click the Screen Mirroring icon in the top bar and select the Extron display.
  5. Adjust the volume of your laptop content using the touch screen volume controls.

Using the Blu-ray DVD player

  1. Tap the Blu-Ray input button on the touch panel.
  2. Open the equipment cabinet, insert the BluRay disc, and press play on the touch screen panel.
  3. Use the Blu-Ray Control button on the left side of the touch panel, or use the Denon remote control.
  4. Adjust the volume using the touch panel volume controls.

Using the document camera

  1. Tap the Document Camera input button.
  2. Turn on the Elmo document camera.
  3. Place the document or item to be shown on the bed of the document camera, and adjust the zoom and light settings as needed.

Using the microphone

  1. Open the front of the microphone case and flip the power switch to the "on" position. Check the mute switch on the top of the device.
  2. Clip the microphone head to your lapel or collar, pointing towards your mouth.
  3. Please remember to flip the power switch back to "off" when done.
Turn off system
  1. Press the shut down button at the top right of the touch panel screen.
  2. Confirm or cancel the shutdown. The touch screen panel will go into sleep mode a few minutes after the system is shutdown.
