Where can I get Workday training?

Questions

Where can I get training to learn how to use Workday?

I missed my scheduled instructor-led training and it is no longer offered live, how can I make up my training?

I believe I need more training beyond what I was assigned, where can I get more?

I don't remember what I learned in training, can I get a refresher?

Where can I find instructional job aids or demo videos?

How would I know what training I am supposed to complete?

Answer

Training materials for Workday are available on the Workday Training Connect Site, Minnesota Self Service's Learning Management system (ELM) and Friends of NextGen SharePoint site.

Workday Training Connect Site:

  • Offers training materials such as job aids, brief demos and more organized by sub topics (resources for employees, faculty, finance, etc.)
    • Job aids and demos can provide instructions to help fill in gaps that were not covered in training and/or provide a refresher for some items that were included in training.
  • Includes links to instructor-led training recordings for those who missed scheduled training or want additional training.

Minnesota Self Service's Learning Management system (ELM):

  • Employees can access foundational Workday training courses assigned to them, even if they have already completed the training.
  • Employees can access additional computer-based Workday training courses by using the Find Learning tool (search "Workday").

Friends of NextGen SharePoint Site:

  • Provides a wealth of resources, tools and information related to the NextGen project and Workday, as well as additional training materials. This is likely a good starting point for someone new to the Workday and the NextGen project.

Training assignments were shared with Minnesota State employees in Spring Semester 2024 and are still available on Friends of NextGen. Training assignments were made based on security role designations at the time, and employees may find that they need additional training based upon modified security roles and/or gaps in training. Employees are encouraged to use the training materials referenced above to support their individual training needs.
