Submit a Video Recording to a D2L Assignment or Discussion
Record a Video
Record a video using the tool of your choice (i.e. phone, Zoom, Teams, computer, camera).
Log in to Kaltura MediaSpace
Go to the Kaltura MediaSpace Website and enter your Microsoft credentials.
Upload a Video File to Media Space
NOTE: If you used Zoom to record your video and chose Record to the cloud, you do not need to do this step. Your Zoom recording will automatically go into your MediaSpace account.
- In MediaSpace, in the upper right corner of the page, select Create, and select Upload
- Choose Select Files to search your computer or device for your media file
- Select the file; then select Open to begin uploading the file
- As the file uploads select the Edit button to add a descriptive file name and description to make your video easier to find.
- When finished adding details, select Save. You will receive an email when the video is finished processing.
Publish the Video as "Unlisted" (not necessary ie;f you are embedding your video in D2L)
- To make sure that others can view your video, you should publish it as "unlisted."
- In MediaSpace, select your profile in the upper right, then select My Media.
- Select the ellipses (3-dot) button to the right of your video and select Publish status
- Select "Unlisted"
- Save
Submit your video in an Assignment Folder in D2L
- Enter your course in D2L
- Select Assignments on the Navbar
- Select the appropriate Assignment folder
- Submit your video link (2 options)
- Text Submission: If you have a text box option, select Insert Stuff on the toolbar, select Kaltura Media, locate your video, and select the Embed button next to the video.
- File Submission: If you have a text box option, but you also have an Add a file button, your submission may require you to upload a document. We suggest that you embed your video as described above and paste a link to your video into a Word document, save the document, and upload it to the Assignment folder using the Add a File button. To get a link to your video, go back to MediaSpace, select your video, select the Share button below the video, copy the link, and paste the link into a document.
- After you embed your video and/or add your file, select Submit. You will receive an email confirmation.
Embed your video in a Discussion post
- Enter a course in D2L
- Select Discussions on the Navbar
- Select the appropriate Discussion Topic
- Select the Start a New Thread button
- Enter a Subject
- Enter a message in the text box and then select the Insert Stuff button on the toolbar
- Select Kaltura Media, locate your video, and select the Embed button next to the video
- Select Insert
- Select the Post button to complete your message
