FAQ Basics

FAQ is a tool that can be used to answer frequently asked questions, which reduces duplicate emails and discussion posts. An instructor can continuously add to the list of questions in the FAQ and save the list from one semester to another.

To Access FAQ
  1. Click the Materials menu on the navbar.
  2. Click FAQ
  3. The Manage FAQ window will open.

Adding Categories to FAQ

FAQ is organized using categories for easy retrieval. You will start by creating categories. Categories can be organized to match the modules in your Content List, by the week or learning topic.

  1. Go to Manage FAQ.
  2. Click the New Category button, as shown above.

Getting started

 

  1. Give your category a Name such as “Getting Started.”
  2. Enter a Description for your category if you desire, such as “Questions during course start up.” The Description will be visible to students.
  3. Click Save and New to start another category or click Save.
 
Adding Questions to FAQ
  1. Click Manage FAQ. You will see a list of your categories at this time, as shown.
  2. Click the drop down arrow to the right of the category that you want to add questions to.
  3. Click New Question.

  1. Type the question in the Question box, such as “Where is the Syllabus for this course?”
  2. Type the Answer in the box beneath, as shown below.

  1. Click Save on the bottom.
  2. Or click Save and New to enter another question in the same category.
 
Editing FAQ Category
  1. Click the Materials menu and click FAQ.
  2. You will see a list of your Categories with your questions and answers beneath.
  3. Click the drop down arrow by the Category you want to edit.
  4. Make your changes and then click Save.
 
Editing a Question
  1. Check the drop down arrow by the question you want to edit.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Edit the Question or Answer box as you desire.
  4. Click Save.
 
Inserting a Quicklink in a FAQ
  1. Edit a question, as described above.
  2. Click the Link button, which looks like this.

  1. Click URL, or other link option, from the drop down box.

  1. Type, or copy and paste, the URL for the link you want to add.
  2. Type a Title for your link.
  3. Click Insert.

  1. Click Save.
  2. The link will appear in your FAQ, as shown below.

To Reorder Categories or Questions in FAQ
  1. Click the More Actions button at the top of the Manage FAQ screen.
  2. Click Reorder.

  1. Use the Sort Order drop down boxes to determine your final order.
 
To Preview Your FAQ
  1. Click the More Actions button at the top of the Manage FAQ screen.
  2. Click Preview.
  3. A new window will open previewing how the students will see your FAQ.

Questions

 

To Delete a FAQ
  1. Click the drop down arrow to the right of the question.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Click Yes, when asked to confirm.
