How do I view/create/edit calendar events in D2L and integrate them with Outlook?

Answer

The Calendar tool enables you to create and view upcoming events, and it can also be integrated with your Microsoft Outlook calendar. There is also a helpful tutorial video available for this article.

View, Create, and Edit Calendar Events

  1. Click the Materials menu and click Calendar
  2. Your events will appear. To change your view, use the buttons at the top left: Agenda, Day, Week, Month, or List
  3. Hint: The List view allows you to Filter By: Assignments, Checklists, Discussions, Quizzes, and more.
  4. To create a new event click Create Event
  5. If you want to add a Content topic to the Event, click Add Content and select the topic
  6. Enter an Event Title
  7. Add a Description
  8. Select the Attendees from the dropdown list
  9. Select the dates and times for your event, and if you want to Add Recurrence or Add Restriction to the event
  10. If applicable, choose a Location or use a Seating Chart
  11. Click Create

Integrate your D2L Calendar with your Microsoft Outlook Calendar

  1. Click Materials and select Calendar from the dropdown menu.
  2. Click Subscribe in the upper right hand corner.

NOTE: If you don’t see the Subscribe option, click your Settings button and click the box for Enable Calendar Feeds.

  1. Copy the URL that is shown in the box
  2. Open your Microsoft Outlook Calendar
  3. If using the web-based Outlook, click on Add calendar and then select From internet
  4. If using the desktop version of Outlook, click Open Calendar and then select From Internet…
  5. Paste the URL from your D2L Calendar into the box, then click Save if using the web-based Outlook and OK if using the desktop version of Outlook.
  6. If done correctly, your D2L Calendar should import into your Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
