Data Available to Instructors in D2L

Content

Content Reports show data by content and user.

  1. Go to Content
  2. Select the Table of Contents tab on the left side of the page
  3. Select the Related Tools menu, and select View Reports

The Content tab report shows how many users visited and the average time spent on each topic and module.

The Content tab report data can be exported.

  1. Select the Export Statistics button at the top of the page; a dialogue box will appear.
  2. Select the file link to download the report to your computer.

If you select the number of users visited for a particular topic, you see more details, but the details cannot be exported.

The Users tab report shows how many Content topics were visited by each user. The data cannot be exported.

If you select a user’s name, you get additional data.

Individual user data can be exported.

  1. Select the Export Statistics button at the top of the page; a dialogue box will appear.
  2. Select the file link to download the report to your computer.

Classlist

The Classlist shows the date and time each user last accessed the course.

The page cannot be exported, but it can be printed.

  1. Go to the Classlist
  2. Select the box at the top of the list of users to select all users
  3. Select the Print button
  4. Select Print
  5. Select Save to PDF, or select a printer
  6. Select Save or Print

Discussions

Discussion Statistics show data by user and by forums and topics.

  1. Go to Discussions
  2. Select the Statistics tab at the top of the page

The Users tab shows the number of threads and replies created by the user, as well as the number of posts read by the user.

User statistics can be exported.

  1. Select the Export to CSV file button at the top of the page.
  2. Select the file link to download the report to your computer.

If you select a user’s name, you will see additional details. The details cannot be exported.

The Forums and Topics tab shows the number of threads, replies and pinned posts in each forum and topic.

Forum and Topic statistics can be exported.

  1. Select the Export to CSV file button at the top of the page.
  2. Select the file link to download the report to your computer.

If you select a Forum or Topic name, you will see additional details. The details cannot be exported.

Assignments

On the main Assignments page, you can see how many students have completed each assignment.

View or email students who have not completed an assignment.

  1. Select the assignment name.
  2. Select the Email users without submissions button at the top of the page.
  1. You will see the students who have not submitted in the Bcc field.
  2. If you’d like to send these students an email, type a message and select Send.

Class Progress

The Class Progress tool provides a summary of student activity in the course. This page cannot be exported or printed.

  1. Select Other tools, then select Class Progress. This page will show a summary of all student activity.
  2. To view details for an individual student, select a student’s name.
  3. Filter by individual tool by using the buttons on the left side of the page.

Individual Progress Summary data cannot be exported, but some data can be printed.

  1. Navigate to the information you wish to print.
  2. Select the Print button on the top right of the page.
  3. Use the arrows to expand details.
  4. Select Print.

Grades

Grades can be exported.

  1. Go to Grades
  2. Select the Export button at the top of the page.
  1. Select the items you wish to export.
  2. Select Export to CSV or Export to Excel
  3. When the export is complete, select the Download button.

Quizzes

You can view and print Statistics for Quiz attempts and quiz questions.

  1. Go to Quizzes
  2. Select the Statistics tab at the top of the page.

Select an individual Quiz and then select one of the three tabs (User Stats, Question Stats, Question Details) to see more information.

Quiz statistics can be exported.

  1. Select one of the Quiz tabs.
  2. Select the Export to CSV or Export to Excel button.
  3. The file will be downloaded to your computer.

Quiz statistics can be printed.

  1. Select the arrow next to the quiz name and select Set Up Reports
  2. Select New Report
  3. Give the report a name based on the kind of report (such as Question Details)
  4. To make the report available to you, scroll to the bottom of the page and check the box next to the Instructor role.
  1. Select Save
  2. Return to the main Quizzes page, select the arrow next to the quiz name and select View Reports
  3. Select the Report you want to run
  4. Select Generate HTML
  1. Select Print Report in the upper right corner of the page.
