Making Calls on Zoom Phone
- In Windows, MacOS, or on your mobile phone, open the Zoom Workplace app and sign in, if needed.
- The app may open to the phone keypad screen automatically. If not, select Phone from the ribbon at the top of the app window. In mobile apps, you may need to tap the "..." icon, or tap "more" to see the phone options and keypad.
- In the search field above the keypad, enter the name or the number of the party you want to reach.
- For in-MinnState, on-campus, and saved personal contacts, a menu should appear showing search results as you type. Ensure you have found the correct contact, and click their name in the search result list. This will initiate the phone call. NOTE: If you are accustomed to calling 4-digit extensions on campus, be careful to select the correct contact from the search result list, as the directory includes numbers from other MinnState campuses.
- For numbers not in the Zoom directory (students and non-BSU phone numbers), you will need to enter the 10-digit number and click the blue phone icon to initiate the call. You may click/tap each digit on the keypad to dial, or use your computer keyboard number row or 10-key directly.
- There are a number of in-call options that will appear when the recipient picks up. Check Zoom Phone: In-Call Options for more information.
Answering Calls on Zoom Phone
To answer Zoom phone calls on a BSU-issued work computer, you must be logged into your Zoom Workplace app. We recommend staying signed into your Zoom app during work hours.
- Ensure you are signed into your Zoom Workplace app.
- During an incoming call, Zoom phone will play a sound and display a call notification to help you identify the caller (unless you have manually configured settings to prevent notifications such as setting your status to Do Not Disturb or setting up business hours that fall outside of the time the call comes in).
- On the call notification, select one of the following options to address the incoming call:
- Accept: Answer the call.
- Decline: Route the caller to your voice mail or disconnect the call depending on your settings.
- Close icon (× in the upper-right hand corner): Ignore the call notification. The call will continue to ring on other devices (Zoom mobile app or desk phone) as configued.
- Dismiss (Call queues only): Skip the call notification and remove yourself from the current call queue distribution. The call queue will attempt to reach other call queue members as configured.
- There are a number of in-call options that will appear when the recipient picks up. Check Zoom Phone: In-Call Options for more information.
