Question
How do I give someone delegate access to manage my mailbox or calendar in Outlook?
Answer
Delegate access allows you to grant others permission to create email messages and/or respond to meeting requests on your behalf.
How to make someone a delegate
By default, the delegate can only read meeting requests and responses, and automatically receive Send on Behalf permissions. They're unable to read other messages in your inbox.
-
Click Account Settings.
-
Click Delegate Access.
- Cilck Add.
- Search for the person you want to designate as your delegate.
-
Click Add, and then click OK.
-
In the Delegate Permissions box, accept the default permission settings, or select custom settings.
- If a delegate only needs permission to work with meeting requests and responses, the default permission settings are sufficient. You can leave the inbox permission settings at None. Meeting requests and responses will go directly to the delegates inbox.
-
Select Automatically send a message to delegate summarizing these permissions box to send a message to the delegate
-
Click OK.
